Guide to Chinese horoscope
The Chinese Almanac photos are taken in Penang in one of
our famous temple. But have you ever wondered how these animals become symbols of Chinese horoscope?
How did this twelve animals become the Chinese Almanac or Zodiac signs? One may ask?
Well, as the legends goes, Buddha called all the animals to meet him before
departing from this world. Twelve obedient animals came to pay their last respects
and for that, they are remembered till this day.
The Chinese animal signs are a 12-year cycle used for
dating the years. They represent a cyclical concept of time, rather than the Western
linear concept of time. Check this out for more matching and dating information.

The animal ruling the year of your birth exercises a profound influence on your life.
It is thought that each Chinese Astrology Sign embodies its Animal's characteristics,
as seen by Eastern eyes, in the people born that year.
So a person will be cunning or tenacious or whatever their sign is. Each Chinese
Horoscope Sign comes in five flavors so to speak and they are: Metal, Water, Wood, Fire, Earth.
So instead of a sign lasting only 30 days or so, Chinese signs last a year and each is
repeated once every 60 years.

The magnificent twelve formed the Chinese Almanac or Zodiac in the order they arrived.
And you know what, it is also said that we bear resemblance to the animal ruling the year.
The system of the twelve year cycle of animal signs was built from observations of the orbit
of Jupiter. Chinese astronomers divided the celestial circle into 12 sections. As the saying
goes, "This is the animal that hides in your heart." Happy checking.
The above stone monuments can be seen in Kek Lok See Temple, next to the huge statue
of Goddess Of Mercy. Did you ever wondered why the cat , the only domesticated animal was
left out? :)) I will tell you soon.
